President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un shook hands in Singapore Tuesday morning ahead of their meeting to discuss denuclearization. The two were scheduled to meet first with only translators present, followed by a larger session with aides joining them and a working lunch. Hours ahead of the meeting, Trump tweeted that "[m]eetings between staffs and representatives are going well and quickly....but in the end, that doesn’t matter" as much as his own sitdown with Kim. The president also took aim at "haters & losers" who have been critical of his decision to meet with the North Korean leader. |
