The investigation into an alleged attack on Jussie Smollett shifts to whether the 'Empire' actor paid two men to stage incident, police source says

A Chicago police spokesman confirmed “that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation.”

He added that police have reached out to Smollett’s attorney for a follow-up interview. Smollett, who is black and gay, reported to police on Jan. 29 that two masked men hurled racist and homophobic slurs before beating him.
